Do Not Try This at Home!

Shaycee thought having Tyler ride his bike while she was on his shoulders was a riot. We all laughed hard, but we certainly don't recommend trying this.

Love this Shirt!

I love this shirt!

Yankee Stadium - July 2010

On our last night in New York, we saw a game at Yankee Stadium.

Top of the Rock - July 2010

We decided to go to the Top of the Rock instead of the top of the Empire State Building because the Top of the Rock gives out timed tickets for entry and the Empire State Building doesn't. We were too tired to even entertain the idea of standing in a two-hour line. The two buildings have basically the same view.

Here we are in front of Central Park, which was so beautiful. I am so impressed with the forethought that people had to set aside this much land for a park. It's just huge.

And here's the Empire State Building in the background. I took these photos myself with my phone so the angles are a little weird, but oh well.

Times Square - July 2010

The view from our hotel in New York City. We were on the 34th floor and had floor to ceiling windows that actually freaked me out. Yeah, just a little afraid of heights.

I know I look really bad in this picture but I actually like it because it tells a story. A story of just how tired I was at this point in my long trip and after having walked all over New York.

And apparently, I wasn't the only tired one.

We saw Rock of Ages starring Constantine Maroulis from American Idol. It was so amazing and funny. It's going on tour and I really hope it comes to Salt Lake City.

The Statue of Liberty - July 2010

I loved the Statue of Liberty! It was stunning. So big. And beautiful.

Here we are the boat ride back from the Statue of Liberty.

I think I found my next Halloween costume! I do love the cheesy tourist-y things.

Niagara Falls, Canada - July 2010

The view of Niagara Falls from my hotel room. All I wanted to do was sit in the chairs in front of the window and watch the scene below me. You could feel and hear the water!

That's me.

And Chris.

We did the Maid of the Mist tour because it's basically a requirement when you visit Niagara Falls. They take you right up to the bottom of the falls. Oh, and how cool is it that there's a rainbow in the photo? Chris wasn't too impressed, he thinks they probably have rainbows all the time with that much water, but I think it's pretty cool.

Here we are in our lovely and fashionable plastic ponchos.

I love that there was a bird flying in front of the water in this picture. Right after I took this picture, I had to put the camera away because we started getting very wet. The mist from the falls was like taking a shower.

Old and New

I love the juxtaposition of the very old church reflected in the very new building. Boston is full of old buildings and it was a lot of fun to look at the architecture. You know, it Utah we think 70 or 90 years is old. It was surreal to see buildings that had been around for hundreds of years.

Restrooms in Boston

I have never seen a pay toilet in my life, so of course I had to take a photo! There was someone in this one, or I probably would have paid just to see what it looked like inside.

Sam Adams Brewery Tour in Boston - July 2010

One afternoon, we did the free tour of the Sam Adams Brewery. It was pretty interesting to hear and see how beer was made. They even let us taste the raw hops, barley, and malt. They all tasted disgusting.

At the end of the tour we got to go in a tasting room and try four different beers. It was so fun to watch how the room just got more and more rowdy and loud as the tastings progressed. At first, everyone was listening attentively to our tour guide but by the end she had to ring a bell to get our attention. Poor girl, having to deal with loud drunks all day.

Cheers! These are our tasting glasses, which we got to keep. I hauled mine through two states and Canada and they made it home unbroken, but what am I going to do with them? I actually have no idea.

Cheers Bar in Boston - July 2010

One day, we had lunch at the actual bar that inspired the T.V. show Cheers. Does this view look familiar?

Here's Chris sitting at the actual set bar from the show.

I sat where Cliff sat.

It was a lot of fun but the food was below-average and expensive. This is definitely a tourist trap.

Fenway Park - July 16, 2010

While in Boston, we decided to catch a game at Fenway with a few of our friends.

There were quite a few rain delays and during them, everybody would leave the stands and hang out in the area where the concessions and restrooms are. It was so crowded down there, you couldn't even move.

Tickets to Fenway were hard to come by and I was responsible for finding them. There were six of us going and the only place I could find where six of us could sit together was about seven rows down from the top. When we first got there, I thought they were the worst seats ever. However, when it started to rain, we didn't even notice it because we happened to be sitting under the scoreboard. The seats that I thought were yucky ended up being the best ever! We were the only four rows in the stadium that stayed dry and didn't have to leave our seats during the delays. You can see our shelter in the photo below.

That crazy drunk lady talking to Viron kept asking all kinds of questions and spilling her beer all over us. I love how Viron is just tolerating her, check out those crossed arms.

Of course I couldn't get a hot dog or a pretzel or whatever else is considered traditional ballpark food. No, I was in Boston and therefore I had a lobster roll clam chowder (or was it a lobstah rawl and clam chowdah?)

San Diego - June 2010

I was in San Diego for a class and this was the view from my hotel room. Chris was so jealous he didn't come with me on this trip1 It was fun to listen to the crowd during the games.

Ragnar

This summer, Chris ran the Ragnar Relay (aka The Wasatch Back). His team of 12 finished the 188 mile race from Logan to Park City in 31:12:59.9

Here's half of the team at the start line.

And here's the whole team at the finish line the next day.

The well-deserved and hard-earned medal.

Many teams wear costumes at the finish line. This team (12 guys in Speedos!) was, by far, my favorite. I also love the look on that lady's face as they pass by her.

Chunks of Meat in a Circle?

I saw this on a menu in a restaurant in Casper, Wyoming.

My first thought was, "Chunks of what kind of meat?" Nowhere in the description does it say what kind of meat you might be getting. And why is it in a circle? Needless to say, I didn't order it.
