Zeppe's Italian Water Ice

Zeppe's is a tradition for my family. They serve Italian ice and frozen custard (you can get them mixed or separate, I prefer mixed, which is called a Gelata) and they are only open in the summer. It makes you crave it all year long. My favorite flavors are root beer, orange, and banana....in that order. When you get a root beer gelata and it melts just a little bit and starts to mix together, it tastes just like a root beer float. Try it, you'll be hooked!

The Little Fork at Javier's

I love Javier's and I eat there often. This is the third time I've been given what I like to call, "the little fork." It doesn't match any of the other utensils at Javier's and looks like something that someone brought in from home. It cracks me up. I think it's a fun bonus to randomly get the little fork.

Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point

My sister Colette and I went to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point. We had been wanting to do it for years and finally decided just to go. There were thousands of tulips throughout the 5 1/2 acre gardens. I couldn't believe how many tulips there were. I recommend Thanksgiving Point to everyone!

We rented Segways and it was so much fun. Lots of people stopped us to ask about them. I really enjoyed doing spins on the Segway but a couple of times I got spinning so fast I was nearly thrown off. It reminded me of the time I had to take Chris to the Emergency Room for his own Segway injury.

Seriously? I Can't Believe Some People!

So, my sister and her husband were at the doctor's office the other day and he told them a story about a patient he had seen earlier that day. She came in to be tested for the Swine Flu. He asked her if she had any symptoms or if she had been to Mexico recently. All of her answers were no. So he just had to ask her why she thought she needed to be tested. Her answer? She had golfed at The Barn that day and she had seen a "Mexican" working there! You have got to be kidding me, right? I can't believe people think things like that.

120-Minute Eggs?

I saw this in a magazine and feel certain it's a mistake. What would an egg taste like after it had been boiled for two hours? I'm thinkin' pretty yucky!

CCI Fundraiser

My nephew Ashton had a great idea to raise money for Canine Companions for Independence (CCI), an organization that provides service dogs for people in need. This is Ashton with one of his favorite puppies-in-training, Cara.

We decided to have a yard sale and donate 100% of the proceeds to CCI. We raised over $1100 in just four short hours and we had a lot of fun in the process. So many people donated items for the sale and so many generous shoppers gave us top dollar for our items (some examples: one person gave $13 for a used book and another gave $20 for six used glasses). People are SO generous! Grounds for Coffee was nice enough to let us have our yard sale at their store on Harrison Blvd. Support them, they are awesome!

This is one of my other nephews Brendon. He worked so hard at the yard sale. He's shown here with another puppy-in-training, Stacy.

Who Doesn't Love a Giant Hamburger?

Chris and I took Codey to Call's Drive-In. It's one of our favorite summer spots (they are only open in the summer). They have the biggest hamburgers in town. The biggest one (the Double Giant) is a full pound of ground beef. Codey just got the Giant, because he didn't think he could eat the Double Giant but he ended up still being hungry! I guess next time he'll get the Double Giant!

Tyler's Last Home Game at Weber High School

At Tyler's last home game for Weber High School's soccer team, they had the senior players hug their parents and present their mom's with a rose. Colette made jerseys for all the senior boys and hung them up on a fence.

All of the senior players and the coaches after the game.

Architecture I Love

I saw this photo in a magazine during my flight to Tucson. I love the ceiling, the columns, and the design of the faucet. What kind of architecture style is this? I'm hoping my designer friend Lindsay will comment on this post and let me know because it perfectly describes my style!

Mojito Madness

I was at a board meeting in Arizona and we were served Mojitos for our afternoon break! I have never in my life been at a meeting where alcohol was served so I had to take a photo.

I stayed at the Hilton El Conquistador in Tucson, and it was beautiful! It was 95 degrees and sunny.

A Sure Sign of Spring!

I love this tree in my front yard; it's called a Snow Fountain Cherry. It only flowers for a week or two in the spring and it's so beautiful when it does. After the blossoms all fall off, it's just full of green leaves for the rest of the summer. I first saw one at my Aunt Sue's house and loved it so much that I had to have one for myself.

Fun on the FrontRunner

Chris and I rode FrontRunner to Salt Lake City with my Liesik cousins and my nephew Codey. Little kids always think it's so much fun to ride the train because they don't have to use seatbelts. They had a great time moving around, doing tricks, and keeping us entertained.

Codey, on the otherhand, hates it when I take his photo, upload it to Facebook, and tag him in it. Apparently, it is not cool to have your aunt do that. Whatever. So, when I tried to get a photo of Codey, all I got was the bottom of his shoe.

I finally got one of him when he wasn't looking. I guess I won't tag him in it on Facebook and just post it here instead. There's no way his friends will see it here.

Stimulous?

I know that stimulus sounds like ridiculous, but they aren't spelled the same way! Stimulous on a sign; however, is ridiculous! How could I be so lucky to find two mistakes on signs in the same day? And thank goodness for camera phones!

Two for One Specials

Carats and Avacados? This store is on a roll....at making me laugh out loud! I feel bad for judging Lee's for these errors because it was probably only one employee who put up the sign, but then I think, "No one else at the store noticed and realized that the sign should be changed?" I am certain I will think of this sign the next time I buy carrots and avocados.

Good Things Utah

Team Hunt for a Cure (our MS fundraising group) was invited to watch a taping of the local television show Good Things Utah. It was a lot of fun. We were even given a few free goodies (from www.finderskeypurse.com). It wasn't like the car that Oprah gave away but we were pretty excited nonetheless.

It was fun to see all the things they do behind-the-scenes and during commercial breaks.

Here's Colette and Vanessa sitting in the audience. I was the only one in our group that had to sit in a different section of the audience; I felt totally left out!

We had to wait in the car for about 20 minutes before they opened the door for seating. This picture is of Grandma Wilson and Wilson. I think it's funny how Wilson is using the cupholder/armrest as a seat!
