San Antonio, Texas in July

In July I traveled to San Antonio for work. My goodness it was hot! We stayed right on the river walk. I'd been there before so we didn't spend much time out on the river but I did have dinner at Mad Dogs British Pub on the river one night with my friend and co-worker Viron and my new friend Bob K. (from University of Puget Sound). I hated our waitress (I think we might as well have been at Hooter's) but the guys seemed to like her! The conference was a ton of fun and I'd like to give a virtual wave, high-five and shout-out to my cohorts RuthAnn M. (from University of Minnesota), Tony Y. (from ECU), and Vickie Y. (from Kansas State University). We had too much fun that last day, didn't we guys?

The conference had a social activity at a ranch and I got to ride a Texas longhorn bull. Yep, you read that right. I like to say, "I'm kind of a big deal because I rode a bull." Yes, the bull only walked about three steps before I got off and there was no bucking involved, but the fact remains: I rode a bull. It's name was Oreo and he was so tall I couldn't get on it by myself. As I was trying to get up there, the ranch hand (shown in the background of the photo) grabbed my behind and boosted me up there. I was like, "Hello! Didn't see that coming!" Yes indeed, bull riding is going in my bio.

I also got to see my lifelong friend Karon's new house. I spent two nights at her house and we had so much fun hanging out. We ate at two wonderful restaurants (Huisache Grill and Gristmill), toured the New Bruanfels area, and just hung out and visited.
